East Texas Wetlands Project

Through a partnership that began in 2001, Ducks Unlimited, Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, U.S.D.A. Natural Resources Conservation Service, and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service worked with more than 100 private landowners to restore and enhance 6,434 acres of wetland habitat across East Texas’ river valleys and creek bottoms.  Over 120,000 acres were positively impacted through technical assistance.

The East Texas Wetlands Project was discontinued in 2008, but partners continue to seek opportunities to protect, restore, and enhance wetland habitat across Texas.

For potential private lands technical or cost-share assistance in northeastern Texas, please contact the USFWS’ Partners for Fish & Wildlife program:

South of I-20 – 936-639-8546
North of I-20 – 817-277-1100

and ask for the Partners Biologist.
