I'm looking for anyone on here that owns a Phowler boat or ProDrive motor. I'm close to making a purchase and would like to ask a few questions...
My first question is the same for both the boat and motor... have you run them in shallow rivers with rocky bottoms? That is mainly what we have around here. I know these motor were designed with mud use in mind...
Thanks for any help you can give me. I would also like to hear what you think about Phowler boats and Prodrive motors.

Sweeeet!!! Shane's gettin a new boat!
Obviosly I can't be of any help, but if you go this route, I'm sure interested in how it works out. There has to be a better answer out there than our normal jet-drives.

When Shane says "close to making a purchase" it means he's only gonna change his mind 5 or 6 more times.
Here's my vote for the ideal setup. It's a ProDrive X series, but if Phowler can match it...options and price...either way you can't miss...

I do like this Phowler too. But that ProDrive is a sweet ride.

Talked to Brad on Monday and he said with the ProDrive motor you want, you should go with a 16 to 17 1/2 ft boat, true flat bottom and bow (no semi V), but go wider than my 48 in floor for better hole shot and shallower draft. Sounds like what you put together with Phowler Boats fits that bill, and we both do like the open layout with gun box.
But I do really like the layout of that ProDrive boat above...seriously...especially if you could get some pedestal seats on that center box for seated hunting buddies (who occasionally forget their stools) or for taking the kiddies fishin...whatever.

That Pro-drive boat sure does lay out nice!!! Especially for a flip-over blind. One suggestion Shane.... check out my new blind before you buy one if you haven't seen it already. I can't remember.
And for cryin out loud get seats for Praig. I'm tired of always hearin about him beggging everyone to pack his stool.

Bob, can you post a picture of your blind? I have not seen it.
Do you guys think the 1860 is too long for the river? They do make a 1760... but it is only $100 cheeper. What is your thoughts...
Bob I will see what I can do about the seats. :D I want Praig to be happy!!!
Phowler boats and ProDrive boats are made VERY similar to each other. The two things I dont like about the ProDrive is the horizontal ribs are above the flat floor... there is two of these and I can see myself tripping over them in the dark. Who am I kidding... in the broad daylight! The other thing is the Phowler has a clean out groove on each side of the floor to easily wash out any mud or junk that gets tracked in.
According to Phowler w/ the X36 ProDrive motor and the 1860 Phowler boat I should be able to get high 20's to low 30's mph. I don't need a speed boat but I do want to be able to get around easily.
One last thing... Praig can you repost the pic of the Phowler... I can't see it.
Thanks guys! I really want all the help I can get before I send in the $$$

I'm not sure what to say about the length. My old boat was a 1760, new one is a 1966. I definately gave up quite a bit of manueverability which sometime is a handi-cap. On the flip side the extra room SURE is nice. I really appreciate the bigger boat in rough water, but that's mostly when I'm down on the bay. I doubt that 1' in the same width would make much difference so for $100 I guess I'd go bigger.
I'll e-mail you pics of the blind, but to appreciate it you need to see it. If you want I'll meet ya at the river some afternoon before you head home from work and you can check it out. When you really appreciate it is when it's rainin or snowing and you are completely out of the weather with a "roof over your head. You can check out the web site, it's the Mud Buddy Quick-flip.
