I have a alleld boat 17 foot long. have a 50 hp mercury but the hp is reduced to 35ish with the jet drive. boat runs gets around real good in shallow water but just not very fast. has anyone used any of the pods? been thinking bout putting some on to help the old motor get up on plane faster. curious on ur inputs.  it works great but after gear is added and couple buddies it gets a pretty good work out.

My buddy i hunted with had one. Works great in shallow water but still not as good as a surface drive but it still beats a prop engine. Only bad thing is if the bottom is really muddy or has a lot of vegetation or rocks you have to be careful because that jet prop will suck it up and if it clogs you can over heat the motor. Just make sure when running shallow make sure the stream out of the pisser is still flowing and is clear. Other than that we loved it allowed us to get back where the birds were
